Up early and headed for Old Sacramento, a lovely day again had to wait for the Sacramento History Museum to open, interesting displays about the gold rush and the flooding of the city but not very well planned out so a bit confusing, wandered around a while and then headed for Sausalito stopping on the way at the Jelly Belly bean factory (seemed like a good idea at the time), saw how the jelly beans are made and got some free samples, bought some jelly bellyflops (misshapes to you and me).
Wasn’t such a good idea as it then made us late for the rest of the trip, headed for the Napa Valley stopping to look at a couple of vineyards on the way, had wanted to maybe do a bike ride at Calistago but run out of time so just passed through.
We arrived in Sausalito and passed the harbour on our left side carried on looking for hotel but none to be seen, turned the corner and a great view of San Francisco over the bay we then seemed to be heading out of town and before we knew it we were on the Golden Gate Bridge and heading into the City. No obvious hotels to be seen in Sausalito so went to the hotel we had booked for tomorrow evening, The Hotel del Sol to see if they had room, only had a junior suite so we took it as everywhere was showing no vacancy signs. Quite a different hotel, a uniqueness to it that the chain hotels don’t have, went down to the water to see the GG Bridge at sunset and to get some food.
