Headed out of Santa Monica on route 1 and towards Malibu, stopped at Leo Carrillo Beach as it has been used for beach scenes in lots of movies including 50 first dates and Grease.
We weren’t particularly impressed but again I guess if the sun had been shining it would of looked different. Through Ventura and Santa Barbara then decided to head inland and towards the Santa Ynez Wine Country. Stopped at Lake Cachuma which was beautiful and at last some sunshine and it was hot. Eagles flying above and beautiful scenery up in the hills.
We stopped at Los Olivos a lovely wine town with wine tasting rooms and gourmet restaurants just a pity we weren’t able to sample the wine with driving. After lunch drove to Morro Bay one of the last remaining fishing Villages, saw the fishermen return with their catch a very nice laid back feel to it, you can imagine a nice weekend getaway somewhere to chill out. Off course we had to have fish and chips for dinner, mahi-mahi for me!
