After a busy few days exploring Los Angeles we voted for a beach day on July 4th. Staying in near by Marina del Rey we walked along the beach through Venice Beach, past Muscle beach to Santa Monica pier and found the perfect spot on the busy beach!
Everyone was out to celebrate July 4th, wearing red white and blue or carrying a flag! Although we saw no trouble the police were out in force with varied modes of transport from cars, motorbikes, mountain bikes, beach buggies, horse back and on foot! The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was out for fun!
We were lucky enough to get seats for 4th July firework concert at Hollywood Bowl – what a fantastic experience! We packed a picnic and headed to the bowl, the Hollywood bowl is America’s largest natural amphitheater and the show did not disappoint. The Bowl is set in the Hollywood hills, with the Hollywood sign peeking from behind the stage. An amazing concert from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, joined by the U.S Air Force band playing very patriotic music! They were followed by Vince Gill, a country singer and another great preformance! The show finished with a dramatic firework show, I will be sure to remember that night for a long time to come!
